If I want to watch yugioh abridged, do I have to have seen yugioh?

Yugioh abridged looks really funny, but I don't know if I want to watch a 20min anime episode to get it. But would it be better if I had watched the actual anime?

1. no you dont have to watch the actual anime
2. I've never seen Yugioh, but I watch the abridged series. Some of the jokes are a little confusing if you haven't seen the anime, but most of them you should get from context.
3. It makes more sense if you've at least read a true abridged version of each episode from season 1 and the Battle City arc. Some of the jokes have nothing to do with Yugioh, which LittleKuriboh explains in his 'how to make an abridged series' video (I don't know where it is now).
